RecyclerView

Learning android development for complete beginners (FREE COURSE):

In this video I show you how to use a RecyclerView to display list items with an image and text.

You’ll learn to build a recyclerview adapter class from scratch and display images and text. To retrieve the images from the internet we use the “Glide” library.

This is a perfect example if you’re a beginner and need a step-by-step example on how to use a recyclerview in your android project.

  • Can you tell us how to store all list of items in strings.xml(string array) instead of putting them all in java? How do I get string array in string.xml to recyclerview?

  • Why your github code about recyclerview does not the same with your video? in your github there is a galleryactivity class.

  • 'error: type argument RecyclerViewAdapter.ViewHolder is not within bounds of type-variable VH
    public class RecyclerViewAdapter extends RecyclerView.Adapter<RecyclerViewAdapter.ViewHolder>{
    ^
    where VH is a type-variable:'

    Points to RecyclerViewAdapter.java, right at the top. I don't actually know what that means.
    android 3.6.3, recyclerView v7:28.0.0, glide 4.11, circleimageview 3.1

    I keep following youtube tutorials and they repeatedly don't work somewhere, and all I can surmise is that it's cuz of changes to the newer stuff. Cuz they're always errors around some import or some deprecated method or something. But I don't know enough to say, yet. Still a super frustrating experience.
